Ray Whipple

Ray Christopher Whipple (November 14, 1893 - December 1973) was an American football player. He played at the end position in college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in professional football from the Detroit Heralds from 1917 to 1920. He played for the 1920 Detroit Heralds during the first regular season of the National Football League (then known as the American Professional Football Association). He was selected as an All-Pro player in 1917.
==Early years==
Whipple was born in 1893 at Elgin, Illinois. His father, L. F. Whipple, was a Michigan native, and his mother Jennie Whipple was an immigrant from Ireland.
